NC Reads Book Drive
This was a project I became very passionate about. In 2016 my father moved into the role of Principal at Bruce Drysdale Elementary School in Hendersonville, NC. One day, he had a child in his office and he decided to read a book to him. The boy started crying and said he had never had a book read to him before. This was truly heartbreaking to me and inspired me to do something to help him and other children in similar situations. I worked to organize and execute an NC Reads Book drive and over 3,000 books were collected. Those books were distributed to the children that attend Bruce Drysdale Elementary School and were also placed into Little Free Libraries that I designed, assembled, and installed throughout the community in which these children reside.

Indoor Track Pole Vault State Championship
I was very excited to try pole vaulting when I joined the varsity track team. It became something that I was so passionate about, and all I wanted to do was work on getting better. Unfortunately, in the eighth grade, I suffered a stress fracture in my right tibia from triple and long jumping, and the pain from that injury never subsided. Each time I would pole vault, I would experience severe pain. I had numerous MRI’s and doctors appointments but no solution was found for my pain. Despite this, I was able to push through and win the 1A/2A Indoor Track Pole Vault State Championship my sophomore year. This experience allowed me to grow so much, and the perseverance, tenacity, and work ethic that it required has carried over into every aspect of my life.
